Skin is the most noticeable aspect of a person and presents an image to other people.  That image should project one of being healthy, caring about one's appearance and vitality. Properly caring for your skin is the easiest objective to achieve and one that will help prevent skin diseases and problems such as Acne, premature afing and skin cancer.

In general, men spend more times outdoors than do women thereby collecting more debris on their skin from air pollutants. Men also have 15% oilier skin and larger pores than women. Daily maintenance is a "must do" as part of a man's normal grooming process.

Try these three simple steps for healthier skin.

#1 Daily Cleansing

No matter what skin type you have, twice daily deep pore cleansing is important. Wash face with a non-fragrant cleanser that does not irritate the skin or clog the pores. Daily cleansing removes dead cells and smoothes the surface of the face. See Cleansers

A toner helps keep skin clear and fresh feeling without drying the skin, Alchol-free toner is recommended as an optional step. See Toner.

Always use a light moisturizer after cleansing and shaving the face and neck. If your skin type is dry to very dry or you have over exposure to the elements, you may need an intensive moisturizer. It is also important to moisturize the area under your eyes as this area produces no necessary oils. This area of the face is also the first to show signs of aging. See Moisturizers

#2 Exfoliate

Everyone should exfoliate their skin (face & body). Exfoliation creates epidermal resurfacing to remove dead and listless cells. It reduces the signs of accelerated aging of the skin caused by sun, tanning and environmenta effects. It also improves the softness and texture of the skin.

There are several options for exfoliation of the face & body:

Use of a Alpha Hydroxy/Glycolic Acid Exfoliator on a twice daily basis on the face is beneficial for reduction of pore size, refining fine lines and wrinkles, evening out skin color, lightening discolorations of skin pigment and helping to avoid ingrown hairs. See AHA/Glycolic Acid Exfoliator

A. Microdermal Facial Polish is excellent for home maintenance and in between professional treatments. Provides deep exfoliation, rapidly cleanses, de-fats and removes dead cells and is extremely gentle to the skin. The facial polish reduces the signs of accelerated aging caused by the sun, tanning and environmental effects while improving the softness and texture of the skin. The facial polish also loosens ingrown hairs. It may be used up to three times a week and can be used in conjunction with an AHA/Glycolic Acid product. Facial Polish

B. Microdermal Body Polish is a superior treatment for body and foot exfoliation. It is a non-aggressive treatment which diminshes the appearance of rough, chafed and callused skin. It is a superb anti-stress formulation and loosens ingrown hairs on the body. A body polish may be used up to 3 times a week but should not be used on the face due to added frangrance. Body Polish

#3 Protect Your Skin

Avoid over-exposure to the skin. Excessive exposure causes premature aging, exagerates and thikens fine lines and can lead to serious skin diseases such as skin cancer. Always use a good sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher on all exposed skin, especially the face and don't forget the top of your head if hair is thinning or bald. Sunscreen Skin Protection

Most people don't realize that regular exercizing is a way to promote healthy skin. Exercize increases oxygen to the tissues which keeps skin looking young.

Proper diet also determines the appearance of your skin. Lots of fatty, greasy foods increases oiliness, promotes skin conditions such as Acne, and may cause skin eruptions (pimples, blackheads and whiteheads). Eat fresh fruits and vegtables and also add Vitamin C and E to your diet.

Moderation is the key - excessive alchol, smoking, fatigue and stress are factors that lead to premature aging. These factors also decrease necessary circulation of blood and hydration to the skin.

There are five basic skin types: Combination, Dry/Mature, Normal, Oily and Sensitive. Always choose products based on your personal skin type. By choosing the proper products you will derive more benefits and prevent problems associated with products that cause dryness (If used on Dry/Mature skin.), rashes (If used on Sensitive skin.) or leave a residue (If used on Oily skin.)
